Evanescence is the self-titled third studio album by American rock band Evanescence. The album has been released on October 11, 2011. The band started the writing process for the album on June 2009. The release of the album was changed several times. First, on February 22, 2010 the band entered the studio with producer Steve Lillywhite but later they stopped recording the album with him because he "wasn't the right fit". During that time the album was scheduled for an August or September 2010 release, but Lee later announced that Evanescence had left the studio to write more material. On April 11, 2011, the band went back into the studio with a new producer, Nick Raskulinecz, and tracking was completed on July 8, 2011. "What You Want", the first single of the album was digitally released on August 9, 2011. The song which was written by Amy Lee, Terry Balsamo and Tim McCord talked about freedom which was a constant theme on the whole album. The song was well received by the fans, and by music critics who praised Amy Lee's vocals. The single debuted at number one on the UK Rock Chart making Evanescence the artist with most number-one singles on the chart for 2011. It also peaked at number 68 and 72 on the Billboard Hot 100 and UK Singles Chart respectively. The video for "What You Want" started filming on July 30, 2011 in a warehouse in Brooklyn, New York, and it was directed by Meiert Avis. It was released on September 13, 2011 and it showed the band performing the song live. Critics praised the video for its "crystal clear" shots and the live performance of the song.
